Irwin 2000 Super Sailor Moon doll arrives!

So, awhile ago I was very lucky and I was able to purchase a Super Sailor Moon doll! I payed $80 for her, including several other dolls. When I got them, they were pretty dirty - it looked like they might have been lightly played with at some point, and then set somewhere where they got kind of dusty. So, I ended up cleaning them all up. First I started with my two Mercury dolls, Tuxedo Mask, and Sailor Venus!

I feel like Sailor Mercury really never gets any love. It doesn't help that her dolls tend to have really weird hair - both the 90s and 2000s Irwin dolls in particular, and especially the Mercury on the left in comparison to the one next to her. 

So many bald spots! 

I decided to finish those four up, clean off their clothes - the clothing, as it turned out, did have a fair amount of stuff on it over the years!

It was a lot darker in person - the flash is on! Yuck!

And then I finally focused on the prize of the lot - Super Sailor Moon!

After cleaning her up and letting her dry, I dressed her back up.

I'd say she cleaned up quite nicely! I also have her wand, but that's not currently displayed with her - once I get her onto display, though, I'll be attaching it with probably some string so she can hold it properly. :)

Unfortunately, when I bought the lot, I intended on keeping Venus - Venus and Jupiter are two of the inner scouts I'm missing! (well, that and the basic Sailor Moon, oddly enough) However, Venus actually has a small nick on her nose - it's a bit difficult to photograph, though. I planned on selling some of the dolls in the lot to recoup some of my money since I don't need them, so maybe I'll be able to buy a Venus in better condition with the money.

It's been awhile - but the collection hasn't stopped!

As much as I hate to say it, for awhile, I stopped posting - it's not so much I forgot about this blog, as much as it is that I kind of dropped away from the Sailor Moon collecting scene to a degree. I'm in a lot of anime buy/sell/trade groups on facebook (which if anyone is interested in a list of such groups, I can compile them; most of mine focus on Sailor Moon in particular though), and with the influx of 20th anniversary and Sailor Moon Crystal merchandise, it got kind of overwhelming - so I ended up disabling a lot of notifications on the groups and to a degree I stopped buying stuff for a few months.

I say "to a degree" because if I said anything else it would probably be false -- but a lot of my purchases were pretty scattered, and I feel with how infrequent it would be, it probably wouldn't be worth posting about. Right now I'm trying to sell a few things that I feel doesn't quite fit into my personal collection (Bandai Twinkle Pegasus figure, Bandai VesVes doll, and a variety of Irwin dolls that are duplicates or the older ones I don't particularly collect); however, before I do that, I'll probably take some photos to post on here to discuss them. They're pretty interesting, and as far as Pegasus and Vesves go, they're pretty rare - and it's difficult to find anyone talking about them. If I had a good video recorder, I'd probably make some kind of youtube video... Unfortunately, while I do have a pretty nice camera, I doubt recording would be in it's forte - I don't have a tripod. :P

I'm going to be busy with school so my posts will probably still be slow (though I guess they always were - alas!), but I plan to do a few custom projects and I have a few items in the mail, some things I'm watching, and some things I'm deliberating on buying in the near future. For those curious about the mentioned custom projects, I'll probably be posting them on my deviantart, but here are the current characters (and some of the doll bases) I pan on doing:

Princess Small Lady - Bandai Chibimoon doll (already have it!)

Adult Princess Small Lady doll - 2001 Wicked Lady doll (don't currently have it; looking to find a reasonably priced one. Will probably use Starlight Studio's Princess Serenity gown on her)

Helios doll - Prince Diamond doll (don't currently have it)

Sailor V - Currently deliberating on the base. Ideally one of the sweeter faced Bandai Japan dolls, but I might settle for a different Bandai Venus doll or a 2000s Irwin Venus - if not a different Bandai doll altogether, which I have possibilities for. I do plan on doing a 6" version with the Bandai America doll, though!

Sailor Cosmos - some kind of Irwin doll. I have some Serena/Serenity dolls I could use, but the basic Sailor Moon Irwin doll seems to sometimes have some kind of hair condition where she gets nearly white-blond hair (materials aging? sun bleaching? no idea), so I might keep my eye out for one of those dolls instead. They're more common and cheaper than Serena/Serenity, anyways.

Sailor Saturn - Bandai Europe/Asia Mars doll. Already have the doll! I just need to find boots to use (probably some Takara Jenny boots; I imagine they should fit) and the materials I'll need. I'm altering a Irwin fuku and hopefully fabric paint will work since I'm not exactly the most gifted with sewing - SailorSamara used fabric paint for her Sailor Cosmos custom, so I'm hopeful. Eventually I will probably do a reroot since for some reason this particular Mars doll is a brunette, but until I get all of my crafting supplies for my eventually EAH/MH dolls, this probably won't happen anytime soon.

Sailor Chibi Moon & Sailor Moon - I'll be using a Cupid EAH and Blondilocks EAH dolls for these two; these will be farther down the road though, since there is a lot of materials I'll need to get together - I have more plans to do customs with EAH & MH dolls for other series, so this is a "down the road, but likely not anytime soon" kind of project - especially since it's pretty cold outside and I wouldn't want to spray sealant inside my house without being experienced with it. Eventually I might possibly do a Sailor V in this style, along with a Human Luna and Saturn.

Human Luna, Princess Kakyuu - Other Bandai dolls.

Chibiusa & Chibimoon - I want to make a very "chibi" Chibiusa and ChibiChibi, so I might use other Bandai dolls (the smaller Marmalade dolls maybe...?) or some of the knock off Ddung dolls on ebay - I'm inspired by a deviantart user who used the Ddung dolls for hers, so we'll see what is in store! These will probably be under similar conditions as the EAH customs, though.

I'm also hoping to put together some custom Sailor Moon Licca dolls, as well - and also acquiring a Licca doll body for my still-headless Chibimoon doll, and see if that's a suitable replacement body.

For those interested I'm also working on setting up a video game collection page as well... It'll probably mostly be about League of Legends and the Legend of Zelda.
